Tours


      Come visit the new Navy Lakehurst Heritage Center at Joint Base Lakehurst.

The all volunteer Navy Lakehurst Historical Society, in co-operation with the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst & NSA Public Affairs Office offers tours as follows:

      November thru March - 2nd Saturday of the month
      April thru October -       2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month

The Navy Lakehurst Heritage Center is open on Wednesday for Military, DOD and group tours.
School groups are welcome.

     Everyone wishing to take the tour must adhere to strict security requirements and must pre-register by calling 732-818-7520 or contacting     tours2@nlhs.com

Due to Department of Defense Security Regulations, we regret no foreign nationals may go on the tours.

All guests must be registered 2 weeks before the date of their tour. No walk-ins or additions to the group will be accepted on the day of the tour!

Tours may be cancelled for the following reasons without notification:

  • due to Military operations
  • Security issues
  • weather.

Hangar One

Hindenburg Control Car

Historic Hangar No. 1

Hangar One was built to house the U.S. Navy's rigid airships.  You will get to see this fantastic structure from the inside and out.

Hindenburg Control Car

The control car mock-up built for the 1975 motion picture, "Hindenburg", can be seen right inside Hangar One.

Hindenburg Crash Site

The exact spot where the Hindenburg crashed to the ground in flames on May 6, 1937 is marked by this monument.

Hindenburg Memorial Plaque

This plaque, located at the crash site, was donated in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Hindenburg Disaster
