Although Hindenburg was destroyed by fire over 65 years ago, many artifacts survive today.

The ground crew were given badges that were to be turned in at the end of the day in exchange for the day's pay.  Members of the press were issued badges, allowing them to cover the day's events.  This is possibly the only one in existence today.

Hindenburg platter

This serving platter was retrieved from the Hindenburg's wreckage.  The hole melted in the upper right of the rim is evidence of the extreme heat of the fire. These pieces of girder, rope and a spoon were retrieved from the wreckage by a member of the U.S. Navy's ground handling crew.

Small Hindenburg Tea Cup.jpg (7986 bytes)

These utensils were retrieved from the wreckage by souvenir seekers and were donated to NLHS over the years.   Although this teacup and saucer were not aboard Hindenburg on its final flight, they were probably on board during one of the flights in 1936.
